Mestechs Tofino 2 switch platform (MPT128) is a 12.8Tbps reference system for programmable networking evaluation targeting data center, wireless and wireline applications.MPT128 is built on Barefoot Tofino 2TM – 12.8Tbps PISATM (Protocol Independent Switch Architecture) Ethernet switch – and the Barefoot P4 StudioTM Software Development Environment.

 

Tofino 2 switch features:

  • 256 x 10/25/53 Gbps SerDes with 256 MAC ports
  • Additional 4 x 1/10/25 Gbps SerDes with 4 MAC ports for CPU packet interface
  • Quad Programmable Packet Processing Pipelines Each pipeline features:
  • Ingress and egress processing using Match Action Units with TCAMs, SRAMs, ALUs
  • 400 Gbps packet generator
  • Traffic Manager with multicast using on-chip packet buffer shared between 4 pipelines
  • The switch platform is equipped with:
  • Intel Pentium D-1517 processor connected via COM Express CPU connector
  • Board Management Controller accessible via front panel RJ-45 connectors
  • Redundant (1+1) hot-pluggable AC/DC modules
  • Hot-pluggable (N+1) fan modules

Barefoot P4 Studio SDE

 

P4 Studio Software Development Environment (SDE) provides a complete suite of tools for P4 simulation (ASIC model), P4 compilation, testing (Packet Test Framework), resource visualization (P4 Insight), runtime control plane driver (Barefoot Runtime) and ASIC driver APIs.

To assist with switch application development, a feature-rich reference P4 data plane program called switch.p4-16 is provided. Its features include:

  • IPv4/IPv6 routing – unicast, unicast RPF, multicast
  • L2 switching – learning, STP, VLAN translation
  • Load balancing – ECMP, LAG, resilient hashing
  • Tunneling – VXLAN, NVGRE, GENEVE, GRE, IP-in-IP
  • MPLS – LER, LSR, L3VPN, EoMPLS, VPLS
  • ACL – MAC/IPv4/IPv6/QoS/System ACL, PBR
